The past month at Ohio State has been incredibly exciting. The State Tour — our annual summer tradition that was paused in 2021 because of the pandemic — was a resounding success. Our visit to the Miami Valley region showcased Ohio State to an important area of the state, reinforced vital relationships, and solidified new and existing partnerships critical to our excellence in academics, research and service.

In the coming days, the U.S. Supreme Court and other governmental entities are expected to issue decisions and advance policies that will impact our nation and the communities in which we live. As they do, we will provide the university community with opportunities for dialogue and engagement, and we will continue to rely on our shared commitment to research, teaching, scholarship, academic freedom and considerate discourse.

I hope you are enjoying the summer and finding an opportunity to relax, start a new adventure, or just indulge in a good book. Our campuses have been quiet, which is nice, but I cannot wait for throngs of Buckeyes to return in the fall with excitement and enthusiasm. Wherever you are, I hope you will take time to celebrate Pride Month and observe Juneteenth next week.
