The following email was sent to university students, faculty and staff on July 20, 2018.

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

You have undoubtedly seen reports of various aspects of the investigation regarding the late Dr. Richard Strauss during his time as a university employee in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. These stories have contained a range of allegations and have come from a variety of perspectives and vantage points. Many of the allegations that we have seen in the media have been profoundly disturbing. As has been the case since we first announced the independent investigation in April, we remain committed to and focused on the single goal of uncovering the truth. Our first priority is — and always will be — a safe and healthy campus for all members of our university community.

Below is an additional update on the ongoing investigation. Further details and resources will continue to be made available at osu.edu under "Strauss Investigation" or directly here.

We encourage anyone with information about incidents relating to Strauss and his time at Ohio State to please contact investigators at osu@perkinscoie.com.

We are very grateful to everyone who has contacted the independent investigators. We know that this takes great courage. Thank you. We will continue to provide you with information as it becomes available.

Sincerely,

Michael V. Drake, MD

President
