The following message was sent to all Ohio State students, faculty and staff on Monday, April 13, 2020.

Dear Buckeyes:

As we all continue to adapt to the COVID-19 outbreak, I am proud of how the Buckeye community has come together. Ohio is a national leader in flattening the curve, and each of you plays a critical role.

Times such as these often bring out the best of humanity, but they also test our patience and sense of well-being. We must remember to live our Ohio State values and to support all members of our community.

It is disappointing that there have been a number of reports of bias and harassment around the world, and we are not immune. As Buckeyes, we have no tolerance for discrimination and harassment of any kind. We remain steadfast in our celebration of individual differences and diversity.

Ohio State is an inclusive community built around innovative ideas and a welcoming spirit. It is important that we continue to show compassion for our fellow human beings, especially during this extraordinary time.

Thank you again for your collective efforts. Please stay well and be safe.

Sincerely,

Michael V. Drake, MD
