Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

Today, our campus community experienced a violent and frightening act. Ohio State University Police and local law enforcement continue to investigate, and additional information will be posted as it becomes available to emergency.osu.edu. We wish those injured a speedy and complete recovery; and our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families.

Days such as these test our spirit as Buckeyes — but together we remain unified in the face of adversity. I encourage anyone in our community in need of assistance to utilize the university's resources. Student Life's Counseling and Consultation Service and Ohio State's faculty and staff Employee Assistance Program (EAP) are providing emergency support at the locations below.

For students:

  • B145 Recreational and Physical Activity Center; Ohio Union Performance Hall; Younkin Success Center - fourth floor; and 1030 Lincoln Tower
  • After hours, call 614-292-5766

For faculty and staff:

  • Individual sessions at 700 Ackerman Road (free parking); group counseling sessions are also available for scheduling in your department or work group. Call the EAP 24 hours a day at 800-678-6265 or email eap@osumc.edu.

All students, faculty or staff and anyone on campus are encouraged to contact their family or loved ones to let them know they are unharmed. Parents are encouraged to contact their students directly, and if they cannot reach them, contact Student Life's Office of Parent and Family Relations at 614-292-9153 or email the office at parentandfamily@osu.edu.

Our top priority remains the safety and security of our campus community. Thank you very much for your continued support of each other during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Michael V. Drake, MD

President
