Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

I am excited to share that the Board of Trustees has appointed Ravi V. Bellamkonda as the 18th president of The Ohio State University, effective today.

Since joining Ohio State last year as our executive vice president and provost, Dr. Bellamkonda has impressed all of us with his commitment to this university and its people — and with his vision, energy and collegial spirit. He played an integral role in crafting the university’s current strategic plan, and his leadership during its early phases of implementation demonstrates a deep commitment to Buckeyes not only on our campuses, but in the many communities we serve.

Throughout his career in higher education, including his time with us, Dr. Bellamkonda has proven to be a higher-education innovator as well as someone who cares for and builds trust with faculty, staff and students through collaboration and consensus-building.

We are fortunate to have a leader of Dr. Bellamkonda’s caliber already at our university. His vast experience, his strong track record here at Ohio State, and his ability to inspire excellence in the people and organizations around him give us great confidence that he is the right person to lead this university into the future, as president.

We anticipate Dr. Bellamkonda will share additional details about the critical position of provost in the coming weeks. You can read more about today’s announcement at Ohio State News.

For the moment, please join me and the full Board of Trustees in welcoming Ravi to his new role as university president. Dr. Bellamkonda and his wife, Dr. Lalita Kaligotla, a leader in our College of Nursing, are excited to continue to serve this outstanding community — and we are all thrilled to see the great work that you, our students, faculty and staff, do each and every day.

With gratitude,

John W. Zeiger
Chair, The Ohio State University Board of Trustees
