The following message was sent to members of of the Class of 2020 on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

Dear Buckeye Alumni,

I am delighted to share that we are inviting you back to campus on August 8 for an in-person commencement in Ohio Stadium.

While we previously honored you in virtual ceremonies, we have remained committed to holding an in-person celebration for the Class of 2020 when it is safe to do so. A recent survey conducted by the Office of Student Life found overwhelming support for this. We are partnering with state and local health officials on a plan to provide you and your families with the opportunity to celebrate your accomplishments safely in person.

The university will hold two commencements on August 8 — one for Ohio State’s spring, summer and autumn 2020 graduates and one for our summer 2021 graduates. While summer commencement typically is held at the Schottenstein Center, both ceremonies will take place in Ohio Stadium to help ensure a safe experience for all.

I am thrilled that we will be able to come together in person to recognize and celebrate your incredible collegiate experiences. We’ll be sharing additional details with you — and on commencement.osu.edu — as the August 8 commencement date nears. Until then, be well, have a wonderful spring, and Go Buckeyes!

Sincerely yours,

Kristina M. Johnson, PhD
