The following message was sent to members of the Class of 2020 likely to graduate in autumn 2020.

Dear Buckeyes:

Autumn commencement is right around the corner. While these are challenging and uncertain times, your graduation from this storied institution is still a remarkable achievement. Congratulations! We are proud of you and look forward to celebrating the Class of 2020.

In October, Franklin County moved from orange to red in the Ohio Public Health Advisory System, and gatherings in Ohio continue to be limited to 10 or fewer people. With these precautions in mind, we will celebrate your accomplishments during a virtual commencement on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at 2 p.m. The event will be livestreamed and shared with Buckeyes in Ohio and around the world.

Your achievements will be celebrated in person at a future date when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we will join together virtually to celebrate this special moment.

I am happy to announce that Jerry Revish, an Emmy award-winning reporter and former broadcast news anchor in central Ohio, will be the commencement speaker. His four-decade career in journalism, which included reporting from around the world, and his more recent vocation as an ordained minister will provide inspiration as you begin your own new journeys.

A pre-ceremony program featuring messages from graduates, deans and other university leaders from across our campuses will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the commencement ceremony starting at 2 p.m. (the ceremony will last approximately one hour). You can view both events by livestream.

While your degrees will be conferred on December 13, we will mail diplomas after the ceremony. Additional updates will be shared on commencement.osu.edu.

I look forward to celebrating with you and your loved ones soon. Have a wonderful remainder of the semester. Be safe, have fun and Go Buckeyes!

Sincerely yours,

Kristina M. Johnson, PhD
