WOSU Public Media — Speaking to what has been deemed the largest freshman class in Ohio State University’s history, President Walter “Ted” Carter, Jr., reminded students that this year, they’ll be challenged with new ideas and new points of view.

Ohio State News — Thousands of new first-year students filled the Schottenstein Center during convocation to bond as new Buckeyes on the eve of a new academic year. “You have an incredible journey ahead of you, full of new knowledge, new friendships, new traditions,” said President Carter.

From giving scholarships to future Buckeyes in northeast Ohio's Lake County and packing meals with Ohio State students for the Children's Hunger Alliance in Akron to conferring about 1,800 diplomas at summer commencement, Carter made the most of it.
