Dear Faculty, Students and Staff:
Autumn semester at Ohio State has been exciting, busy and beautiful. At times, it has also tested our sense of unity and security.
Particularly in times of uncertainty, it is gratifying to experience Buckeyes coming together as a community.
Examples abound on our campus – from small acts of kindness in residence halls and on the Oval to the annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Ohio Union, where we welcomed 1,600 faculty, staff and students from around the world.
A day after the campus attack, our university community gathered for a #BuckeyeStrong event. I was proud and grateful to see how so many came together to support each other. I believe that spirit of community and unity is what defines us — and what will sustain us.
In that spirit, I want to remind you that support services for faculty, staff and students will continue for those who need them during break and, of course, throughout the remainder of the semester and beyond. You can find student resources here and faculty and staff resources here.
In light of recent events and in the spirit of the season, we have the opportunity to focus on what matters to us and why – and to continue to move forward together as the best Buckeyes we can be.
Best wishes for a safe and relaxing winter break,
Michael V. Drake, MD
